Resources associated with WFSCP learning
The quality assurance group leads on multi-agency audits and learning events. The programme is informed by the priorities of the WFSCP, emerging issues identified through quality assurance information or concerns identified through individual cases. The implementation of the learning and the assessment of impact is undertaken by the group and reported to the WFSCP Safeguarding Assurance Group and overseen by the LSPs.
Quality, performance and audit (multi-agency scrutiny activity)
The Performance and Quality Assurance subgroup leads on multi-agency audits and learning events. The programme is informed by the priorities of the WFSCP, emerging issues identified through quality assurance information or concerns identified through individual cases. The implementation of the learning and the assessment of impact is undertaken by the group and reported to the WFSCP Safeguarding Accountability Board and overseen by the LSPs.
We will be working on a forward plan of audit activity, which responds to the priorities and is reflective of local trends and national inspection guidance.
Practice reviews and learning (CSPR's and national learning)
Learning from local and national reviews is an important way to improve the safeguarding practices for children and young people. Reviews can identify what works well and what needs to change, as well as highlight good practices and lessons learned. By sharing the findings and recommendations of reviews, agencies can learn from each other and implement changes.
A Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review (LCSPR) is a locally conducted multi-agency review in circumstances where a child has been abused or neglected, resulting in serious harm or death and/or there is concern regarding the extent to which agencies have worked together to safeguard the child.
The purpose of a review is to establish whether there are lessons to be learned about the way in which local professionals and agencies work together to safeguard children; identify what needs to be changed and consequently, improve multi-agency working to better safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
The statutory guidance for Serious Child Safeguarding Reviews is in Working Together to Safeguard Children (GOV.UK).
