Your rights
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is a special promise made by countries around the world to help protect your rights.
Rights are the things every child needs to be safe, healthy, learn and be treated fairly. They are like special rules that make sure you are cared for and respected, no matter who you are or where you live.
This agreement tells everyone who a child is (that’s anyone under 18), what rights you have, and what adults – especially governments – must do to help you grow up in the best way.
All of your rights are equally important, they are all connected and no one can take them away from you.
It’s here to make sure you are protected, have a voice and can have a good life.
