The Westmorland and Furness Safeguarding Children Partnership (WFSCP) uses the Virtual College Learning Zone to provide a range of safeguarding e‑learning courses for practitioners across the area.

Accessing the Virtual College Learning Zone

You can access Virtual College online at any time from any internet‑connected device.
To use the system, all learners must have a Virtual College account. 

New Users

If you have not used the system before:

  1. Visit the Virtual College Learning Zone
  2. Select  register an account
  3. Complete the registration form
  4. Make sure you select the correct Group based on the map located on the sign up form (Cumberland or Westmorland & Furness) Selecting the incorrect council can delay approval.
  5. Submit your registration

Your registration will be manually approved by WFSCP, which may take up to 2 working days.

Once approved, Virtual College will send you a Welcome Email with your login details.  (Please check your junk/spam folder.)

Returning Users

If you already have an account:

  • Visit the Virtual College Learning Zone
  • Select Log In
  • Enter your username and password to access your courses

The WFSCP monitor usage of the Learning Management System and ask that all users complete courses within four weeks of commencement. 

There is a cost to the partnership for each time a training course is started.  Please only complete those relevant to your role.

  • Radicalisation and Extremism (Prevent)
  • Safer Recruitment

Please note: if you are a Westmorland and Furness Council employee, you can access e-Learning courses via the Learning Hub on the internal SharePoint. 

Access to Virtual College e‑learning may be restricted for profit‑making organisations because course licences are limited.
If you are a profit‑making organisation, you must email the partnership on wfscptraining@cumbria.gov.uk for approval before accessing e‑learning.
